Meet the team . . . .

Steve Chambers

Steve trained as an actor many many years ago, then he was employed by British Airways where he has recently finished a long career as a Cabin Service Director. (That’s the person who you normally approach to ask for an upgrade.)

Here's a little bit of me . . . .

Favourite

Track . . . Pretty much anything by The Beatles

Favourite Artist . . . At the moment a Jazz singer I discovered named Stacey Kent (I play her sometimes on Steve's Store)

Favourite Hobby . . . After Radio Wey, reading. I can do it lying down

Favourite Film . . . I always loved "Local Hero"

Favourite Person . . . It's people; my wife and two daughters. What else did you expect?

Given his past job, travel figures largely in Steve's life, though he does find sitting still on aircraft difficult. Steve has two teenage daughters and it's a great privilege (being ex crew) having the opportunity to take them abroad a lot. He enjoys reading and computers and goes to the gym as much as he can bear. He also enjoys water and snow skiing when his back will put up with it.

Steve says that he really loves presenting for Radio Wey on the Wednesday morning Wey Too Early from 9.00 -12.00 as well as "Steve's Store" on Thursday evening at 5.00pm. This tends to be mostly jazz - based (but none of the extreme modern off-key stuff) plus a bit of blues, New Age/Chillout. Also, Steve alternates Wednesday's quiz show with Mike at 8 o'clock in the evening. He has enjoyed meeting some great people. He has also done a little professional voiceover work and would love to do more.

Steve’s wife is a nurse and used to work at St Peter's. So no prizes for guessing how he got involved with hospital radio. As to what his daughters think of “Dad” on the air, well one described him as "a fun-loving grumpy old f**t". Why not listen in and decide for yourself?

Radio Wey
