The 14th of August marks the 41st anniversary of the Marine Offences Act; in fact the law came into force at midnight so was enforceable from the 15th. This law closed all but one of the Radio stations that had been operating on ships and forts off the UK coast… or so we are lead to believe.

41 years later . . . Listen as Radio Wey recreate life aboard Radio London’s M.V Galaxy after the Disc Jockeys and crew have left the ship. Listen to two members of staff that are willing to ignore the act and soldier on. With all the original jingles, music and news . . . let Radio Wey recreate the sound of 1967 also known as the Summer of Love.

Radio London closed at 3.00pm on August 14th. The day continues to be well-remembered and commemorated amongst radio fans, few of whom are able to listen to recordings of the station close-down without their emotions getting the better of them.
