Born in London but having been a Weybridge resident from the age of 7 until 16, Marcus first became involved in hospital broadcasting upon moving to Bournemouth aged 17. He went on to present the weekend Breakfast Show and the UK Top 40 Chart Show before going to Oxford University to study Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. Whilst there, Marcus became resident DJ at the city’s two largest clubs, and was a prime-time DJ on Oxygen FM.
A love of journalism informed his choice of study, and today his biggest passion beside music is news and current affairs. From the latest crisis in the Middle East to the latest crisis in the Big Brother house or the Premiership, Marcus is an avid news-hound and likes to stay informed on a huge range of topics past and present.
Since graduating from Oxford in 2004, in the last four years Marcus has built a solid reputation as the “go-to” guy on the UK club DJ circuit, having DJ’d last year at the 2008 Music Week Awards at Grosvenor House, the Labour Party Conference, and numerous artist album release parties.
He has most recently held residencies at Mash in Oxford Circus and The Hidden Julep in London Bridge - as well as appearing at the much-missed superclub Turnmills, On Anon in Piccadilly, Ruby Blue in Leicester Square, Gramophone in Shoreditch, and Notting Hill’s Blag Club and Arts Club.
He has built his reputation on mixing together hitherto un-mixable genres; blending 60’s, disco, 80’s pop, rock, Motown, house, electro, and his beloved hip-hop in a signature style.
Marcus’ own musical tastes are as eclectic as the many venues he has played. Strongly against all music snobbery, he would rather play Kylie, Kings of Leon, Marvin Gaye, Madonna, and Michael Jackson back-to-back in a club than be forced to choose...
Brought up on the rich diet of his parent’s vast record collection, Marcus’ favourite band is Led Zeppelin. And his favourite albums? “Songs in the Key of Life” by Stevie Wonder, “Graceland” by Paul Simon, and “Thriller” by Michael Jackson.
