Jill joined Hospital Radio Wey in 1989 when asked by her church to join the “Good News” team. Nineteen years later she’s still bringing “Good News” to HRW listeners. Her love of all types of music and early background of spinning the discs as a nightclub DJ in Bournemouth led very quickly to her being asked to present the Falcon and Kestrel Requests shows. She also remembers being the only woman on the HRW committee for some years.
After joining St Peter’s Chaplaincy Volunteers in 1998 Jill brought her two roles together and for the last ten years has organised and presented a monthly service for patients and staff in St Peter’s hospital chapel, which is broadcast live on Hospital Radio Wey. Jill says, “I go round the wards each month as part of the preparation for the chapel service broadcast and never cease to be amazed at the courage and good humour of patients I meet.”
“I have many funny HRW memories but my most memorable Radio Wey moments would have to be the two Memorial Services for Radio Wey presenters which we broadcast live from the hospital chapel. They were very special.”
After a career in Sales, Marketing and Corporate Hospitality Jill retrained five years ago and is now a manicurist and nails technician. She loves all kinds of music, the theatre, travelling and exploring new places and is a keen Wasps and England Rugby supporter, “My son has banned me from watching games with him – he says I’m too noisy!!”
