Favourite Person . . . “Whoever has sent me my latest promo!”

With a son born in St Peter’s in 2005, any remaining spare time is still spent collecting and enjoying music and he says he can spend hours hunting in record stores – if ever given half a chance these days… he works as a Marketing Manager at IPC Media (publishers of everything from Marie Claire to Woman’s Weekly, Decanter to The Railway Magazine, TV Times to NME…).

Colin avoids manufactured mainstream pop whenever possible and his favourite music changes depending on the day and situation; generally he’s most passionate about electronic and indie from the late 70s to date, especially the wonderful breadth of Mute Records and its excellent family of associated labels like The Grey Area and Novamute.

His 7:30-9pm Tuesday evening show, “Today’s Music Through The Years And Requests”, features songs by songwriters and artists born on that day – so you’ll get everything from rock to calypso, crooners to indie and pop to dance – splashed throughout with emerging bands, songs that everyone really should know, new releases and, of course, your dedications and requests.

Although Radio Wey is Colin's first foray into broadcasting, he was a student journalist while at school and Leeds University reviewing music, bands and gigs and he even set up his own studio and record label before working with several of the majors, music agencies and a variety of artists. He says he was very pleased to find albums that he had worked on already in the Radio Wey library when he joined and was even more delighted to find that music he had produced with friends is regularly used in Radio Wey’s Sportscene programme. It’s a small world!
