New single ‘Me & My Mate’ – released November 17th

Taken from the forthcoming album ‘Conversational Tennis’

Extraordinarily talented 5 piece rock band The Brainchild release their quirky, very catchy London orientated debut single ‘Me & My Mate’ (..from a council estate walking down the Seven Sisters Road!) on November 17th. Taken from their sensational first album ‘Conversational Tennis’ due for release early in 2009, it nostalgically reflects life experiences in the East End as cockney youngsters.

As a very young boy, lead singer, guitarist and front man Chris Dowling, subsequently nicknamed ‘The Human Juke Box’, was taught the guitar for three years by the legendary Marc Bolan. At the age of 15 he performed his first professional gig supporting Sparks in front of 1000 people. Over the years he has performed with many talented artistes and supported stars such as Tina Turner, Queen & Rod Stewart. Chris’s talents as a writer & performer are phenomenal.

In 1991, at the request of the Nutfinder General, Screaming Lord Sutch & ‘Crucial’ Chris formed The Monster Raving Loony Party band What’s Next? which supported Party events for the next 6 years. Currently with members of the Brainchild it is still the official ‘house’ band of the Party as need demands. In 2000 Chris formed Shark Attack, a tremendous rock band which released an excellent demo album but sadly split up due to unavoidable circumstances - just as major success beckoned!

In 2004, Chris, Massimo Avellano (bass guitar) & Smash O’Neil (drums/vocals) formed The Brainchild to perform & record original material being written & completed the first highly regarded demo album ‘ Work It Out 4 Yourself’. In 2005, the uniquely talented lead guitarist Franky Frullone joined the band having returned to London after 6 years playing & producing in Italy with huge star Edouardo Bennato. Count Dom de Sousa ( saxophones) joined the band in 2006.

They have just completed their outstanding first album ‘Conversational Tennis’, produced by the brilliant Martin Smith (Electric Light Orchestra), due for release early 2009. The Brainchild’s ecstatic reception @ The Cornbury Music Festival this year (Beverley Knight, Toots & The Matals, Paul Simon) has led to an invitation for them to return on the main stage next year. The Festival Director said they were one of the best bands he had seen for many years with disparate elements akin to the Small Faces, Tom Petty & The Blockheads – but overall totally original.

The Hairy Bikers, Si King & Dave Meyers, after seeing the band quite by chance at a gig, have asked them to headline some special dates in the new year and hope to use them as their surprise ‘house band’ on one of their forthcoming new TV series in 2009.

A great live band with a very rare collective musical pedigree The Brainchild are rapidly expanding a wide fan base of ‘Mates’. Hear more sample tracks from the superb forthcoming album on their My Space site.
